Legal services for businesses

Areas of practice

Andrew Walter offers advice in the areas detailed below. But what Andrew’s clients value him for is his ability to quickly identify which area of the law is involved, and offer pragmatic legal advice in response.

Commercial contracts and terms of trade

Andrew can draft any number of commercial contracts and terms of trade - or simply review or refresh your existing contracts and terms.

Business owners can be put off using a lawyer to review a contract or to assist with a legal matter because they think the lawyer will try to 'reinvent the wheel' unnecessarily.  Andrew understands the need to provide simple, pragmatic and practical legal advice - without reinventing the wheel.

Shareholders Agreements

Andrew will meet with you to find out what you’re trying to achieve in terms of your business arrangements and strategic goals. Andrew will discuss whether a shareholders agreement is necessary and what, if any, other documents or arrangements might be required.

Andrew will ensure your shareholders agreement, where needed, isn't simply a form filling exercise – instead he’ll highlight the underlying purposes and intention of such agreements and ensure your agreement is fit for purpose.

Finance and Debt Recovery

If you need to refinance your business debt or personal debt, Andrew will work with you to find a solution that best suits you and your business. Andrew will meet with you to discuss your situation – this will help ensure he provides you with the best legal advice possible.

Andrew is direct and clear and not afraid to question any preconceived ideas or solutions you have.

He has worked with clients who are chasing a debt, and clients who are being pursued for a debt. He won’t waste your time by giving you false hope, instead he’ll outline your options and give you clear advice and suggested courses of action.

BUSINESS SALES AND PURCHASES

Andrew has worked with both ends of the market, from owner/operator businesses to large business sales and acquisitions.

As with conveyancing, existing clients have learnt the benefit of talking to Andrew before entering into a contract of any sort. Andrew can provide straightforward advice on the terms of the sale or purchase agreement only, or he can help with the entire process from pre-contract to settlement.

From the outset, Andrew will ensure he has a clear idea of what you want and need from him and equally that you understand what you are getting from him.

PROPERTY

Andrew has extensive experience in property matters and can help you with landlord/tenant issues, leases, building contracts and construction disputes.

Talk to Andrew before you sign anything and he can advise you how to avoid issues, particularly with respect to building contracts and leases.
